Egyptian Policeman Killed in Gunfight with “Suspected Terrorists” in Cairo

Explosives and Weapons Were recovered From the Suspects


A fierce gunfight between the Egyptian security forces and members of a “terrorist group” was reported in the Capital, Cairo, on Tuesday.

According to state television, one police officer was killed in the incident that happened in the al-Amiriyah district. Another officer was wounded and was hospitalized.

“National security received a tip-off that there was an apartment full of terrorists … An exchange of gunfire ensued,” a security source said. Residents were warned to stay inside their houses and away from windows and doors during the operation.

The source added that explosives and weapons were recovered from the suspects.
