The Chinese government has banned wildlife trade as the officials rush to curb the spread of coronavirus.

President Xi Jinping has described the outbreak of the outbreak as a “grave” situation. He also said public safety is his government’s top priority.

Death toll from the mystery virus, thought to have originated in a Wuhan food market, continues to rise.

Health authorities say at least 56 people have succumbed to the virus and 1,975 more have been infected

Major cities have temporarily shut down public transportation as part of containment measures.
