Twenty-five people were confirmed dead after a plane crashed into a residential building in the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Sunday.

According to a report by the authorities, the aircraft went down a few minutes after takeoff from Goma airport.

The 19-seater Dornier 228-200, operated by local company Busy Bee, had 16 passengers and two members of the crew on board.

As per the report, the plane was flying to the city of Beni, which is about 220 miles north of Goma, when it crashed.

A total of twenty-five people, including some on the ground, were killed in the crash which was followed by a huge fire. Two survivors, including one crew member, were transported to an area hospital for immediate care.
