At least fourteen people died after a passenger plane crashed shortly after take-off in Kazakhstan on Friday.

According to local media reports, the Fokker 100 aircraft was enroute Nur-Sultan when it lost altitude shortly after take-off from Almaty airport and crashed.

The Bek Air plane reportedly crashed through a concrete fence before striking a two-storey building.

Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee said 100 people were on board the pre-dawn flight.

Fourteen people were killed in the crash. Twenty-two other people were injured in the accident and were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased

A special commission is investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
