US COVID-19 Deaths Top 4,000, As White House Projects 100k to 240K Virus-Related Deaths

The number of people who died from the novel coronavirus in the US surpassed the 4,000 mark Tuesday night, just a day after reaching the 3,000 mark.

President Trump, in a briefing, said that the nation was going to face very tough weeks ahead.

The US surpassed China by over 700 COVID-19 deaths, as the White House Coronavirus Task Force stated that it was projecting deaths of between 100,000 to 240,000 Americans from the virus and millions being infected.

US officials said Tuesday that without the mitigation of any measures to curb the spread of the virus, the projections would jump to between 1.5 million and 2.2 million deaths.

China, where the pandemic started, reported 3,310 virus-related deaths, while more than 4,070 people died in the US.
