Man in Texas Detained by Authorities after Wielding Chainsaw at Protesters
Police officers detained a man in Texas after he was seen in a video wielding a chainsaw at protesters, according to the officials.
The disturbing incident took place during demonstrations over the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who died in the custody of Minneapolis police, in the border town of McAllen.
In a video of the incident posted to Twitter at 2:25 p.m., a man in a long-sleeve red shirt and blue jeans was seen wielding the chainsaw at protesters on the sidewalk outside a store.
By Friday evening, the video had attracted nearly a million views.
The man, whose identity had not yet been disclosed, was heard shouting at the people on the sidewalk to move while he revved the chainsaw.
The man was later detained and an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
