Sarah Palin Slams Rahm Emanuel White House Chief of Staff – Sarah Palin has been very vocal regarding her views on the current White House Administration, and recently clarified her statement when she attacked the White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who she said was an irresponsible liar.
“Rahm, you lie,” Palin said on her Twitter account on Sunday night. She was responding to some of the things that Emanuel had said on ABC’s This Week regarding Republican Joe Barton’s recent outburst. “Rahm Emanuel = as shallow / narrow-minded / political / irresponsible as they come, to falsely claim Barton’s BP comment is “GOP philosophy.””
The White House has not responded to the Tweet that Palin left on her Twitter account. The incident took place at a committee hearing in which several representatives sat in to ask questions of BP CEO Tony Hayward regarding the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Surprisingly, Joe Barton did not grill him as many of the others in attendance did, but instead apologized for the $20 billion “shakedown” he received from the White House in his meeting the day before.
The $20 billion is being set aside for individuals that have been negatively affected by the oil spill such as fisherman, dock workers, oil rig workers, among others.
Barton quickly retracted his statement and apologized for his outburst. The apology was likely made under pressure from other GOP leadership, who were being portrayed in a bad light in the wake of the comment.
Palin fought back by saying that Barton’s ideas do not reflect the GOP viewpoint as a whole, and criticized Rahm Emanuel for lumping the GOP as a whole together on the issue.
