Carl Henrik Svanberg Small People Controversy:Bp Chairman Little People Care

Carl Henrik Svanberg Small People Controversy:BP Chairman Little People Care – BP has come under fire for being more concerned with their bottom line than the people and wildlife that the oil spill has affected.
The company is now attempting to change that widespread perception that people have of them by creating a trust fund with $20 billion in it over the course of the next three and a half years. The fund will be doled out to individuals who earned their livelihood from an industry that has been affected by the oil spill. These industries can include fishing industries, oil industries, and other enterprises that rely heavily on the waters in the gulf to turn a profit.

BP’s chariman, stated that the company does care about “the small people” during a gathering. His comment was not taken so well by those in the crowd, who responded by saying that the fact that they were considered “small people” tells enough about BP’s thoughts for them to make their own opinion on the matter.
“We’re not small people. We’re human beings. They’re no greater than us. We don’t bow down to them. We don’t pray to them,” Justin Taffinder, A New Orleans resident said.
BP continues to try to save their public reputation through the creation of multiple funds, much to the joy of President Barack Obama, that will go to individuals that have been negatively affected by the oil spill. A meeting with Barack Obama seems to have changed the tune of BP, who previously acted as if the oil spill was not their fault to begin with.

  1. We’ve always known we are nothing in the eyes of big corp.. BP Has continued to flub up attempts at p.r. with ill spoken words. It’s good that they are making a trust fund for the humans who are being impacted by this blunder, but what of the wildlife and damage to the enivironment? There is unfathomable suffering going on the the lives and habitat of wildlife of all kinds, far more devestating than what people are going through. We are to be good stewards of the earth and everything on it, not just humans. It should be just as important to BP and humankind that the creatures a assisted as well as can be done. I will applaude BP when I see them step forward and do something for nature.
