Sun Mountain Ryder Cup 2010 – Players at the Ryder Cup have been seriously hindered by the rain that has soaked the course throughout the day. The American Ryder Cup team even had to buy another pair of rain suits at the merchandise tent after their own failed. So far, most people have shot rounds that are far lower than was originally expected because of the adverse weather conditions that most players have had to deal with throughout the day.
Right now, the US leads in two different matches. The European pair of lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer are leading over Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, surprisingly. The match featuring Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker is currently tied through ten holes.
Hopefully the weather will take a turn for the better throughout the rest of the competition. It is not fun to watch players have to battle the elements, and all around it feels like everyone would be playing better if they didn’t have to deal with the adverse weather conditions.
So far there have been no delays on account of the weather, but tournament officials said that they would not be against postponing the tournament if the rain continued to further soak the course. The plan was to finish the four-ball matches on Saturday morning, then move toward the two foursome matches that follow.
