Woman Killed in Huntington Beach Crash on Gothard Street near Cedar Avenue

Huntington Beach, California (January 2, 2020) – A 61-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision in Huntington Beach on Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly collision occurred on Gothard Street near Cedar Avenue at about 9:25 p.m. January 1.

A 17-year-old boy from Westminster was reportedly driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with a 2016 Kia Soul.

The Huntington Beach woman who was in the back seat was seriously injured and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she died while undergoing treatment.

The driver and a front-seat passenger in the Soul suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The teenage driver, who was later determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, sustained minor injuries.

No other information was provided.               

An investigation in to the accident is ongoing.
