Newark, California (October 2, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a pedestrian who died after being struck by a car in Newark on Sunday night.
The accident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. September 29, on Newark Boulevard near Cedar Boulevard.
Newark Police Department said 64-year-old Michael Diehl was walking in the area when he was hit by a car driven by a 36-year-old Pinole man.
Diehl sustained serious injuries and was transported to Eden Medical Center where he died a short time later.
The motorist is reported to have remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
No further information was provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
