Lake Tahoe, California (October 7, 2019) – A man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run pedestrian accident in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday night.

According to a local news source, the fatal pedestrian accident happened at about 8 p.m. October 6, on Highway 50 near Lakeland Village.

 A 78-year-old man was reportedly walking across the roadway when he was hit by a car.

The unidentified man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 20-year-old Marlin Cruz, fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian but was later located and arrested.

He was booked into El Dorado County Jail for felony hit-and-run.

The South Lake Tahoe Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
