K’Marie Lawson Killed, 5 Injured in Car Accident at Avenue O and 156th Street in Lake Los Angeles

Lake Los Angeles, California (October 10, 2019) – K’Marie Lawson, 5, has been identified as the child who was killed in a car accident which left several people injured in Lake Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.

According to a local news source, the accident happened at about 8:48 p.m. October 8, at Avenue O and 156th Street.

A Nissan Xterra driven by 61-year-old George Kokoteev was traveling eastbound on the roadway when it drifted into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Nissan Altima.

Lawson who was a passenger in the Altima was killed in the collision.

Four other occupants in the Altima including children ages 1 and 3 years-old were injured in the collision and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Kokoteev sustained major injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

No further information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway.
