West Covina, California (September 26, 2019) – A man was killed in a traffic collision involving a big rig in West Covina on Thursday morning.

The deadly collision was reported at about 2:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 Freeway near Citrus Avenue.

The authorities said 52-year-old Edmundo Hernandez Beltran had been driving a big rig and was stopped behind another big rig and a Honda Civic due to an earlier injury accident ahead.

A third big rig reportedly failed to stop and rear-ended the truck ahead of it triggering a chain-reaction collision.

Beltran, a resident of South Gate, was killed in the collision.

The 31-year-old Moreno Valley man who was driving the truck which failed to stop was seriously injured in the crash and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

No further information was provided.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the deadly collision.
