Redding, California (November 6, 2019) – A CHP officer was hospitalized after being injured in a
collision involving a logging truck in Redding on Monday.
According to a local news source, the accident
happened at about 2:06 p.m. November 4, on Highway 299 near Power House Road.
46-year-old Scott Merryman reportedly noticed
a speeding vehicle traveling westbound on the roadway and made a u-turn to
pursue the suspect.
The officer’s vehicle was struck by a loaded
Officer Merryman was seriously injured in the
accident and was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment.
The truck driver, 72-year-old Larry Benner of
Anderson, suffered injuries to his knee.
