Irwindale, California (January 21, 2020) – A man
has been arrested following a multi-car crash that left a child seriously
injured on Live Oak Avenue in Irwindale on Sunday evening.
According to the California
Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Live Oak Avenue near Interstate 605
Freeway at about 8:40 p.m. January 19.
28-year-old Eric Vargas of Baldwin Park was driving a car at a high rate of speed and was approaching the 605 Freeway onramp when he crashed into two other vehicles.
A child in one of the cars
sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to a local
hospital for treatment.
One other person was hospitalized
in unknown condition.
Eric Vargas was treated for
minor injuries before being arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
