Guy Shearer Killed in Fresno Car Accident at Fresno and Olive, Roger Harris Arrested

Fresno, California – 48-year-old Guy Shearer of Fresno has been identified as the innocent driver who died after being hit by a suspect who was being pursued by the police in Fresno on Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at Fresno Avenue and Olive Street at about 3:30 p.m. April 23.

The police reportedly approached a red Mustang after noticing a holstered gun sitting next to the driver. The driver, who has since been identified as Roger Harris, took off prompting a police chase down Olive Street

As the suspect approached the intersection of Fresno and Olive, he drifted into the opposite lanes and crashed into a truck driven by Shearer.

Shearer was killed in the accident.

Harris fled the scene of the accident of foot but was later arrested.

The police said Harris has a history of violent crime including robbery and weapons offenses.

He was booked into Fresno County Jail for homicide, being in possession of an illegal gun, resisting arrest, and felony DUI.

No additional information was provided.
