Lompoc, California (February 15, 2020) – One person died and another was seriously injured after two cars collided on Highway 1 near Santa Rosa Road in Lompoc, Santa Barbara, on Friday night.
The California Highway Patrol said a yellow Mazda Miata and a maroon sedan collided head-on at about 6:22 p.m. for unknown reasons.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department officers who responded to the incident said one person was killed in the accident.
Santa Barbara Air Support helicopter was called to the scene to transport a seriously injured person to the hospital.
The identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.
The collision resulted in a temporary shutdown of Highway 1 between State Route 246 and Jalama Road.
The CHP and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the accident.
