Jasmine De La Cruz Killed in Los Angeles Accident on 110 Freeway near 9th Street

Los Angeles, California – Jasmine Hope De La Cruz, 21, of Bellflower, has been identified as one of two people who were killed in a Los Angeles crash that occurred on the 110 Freeway near 9th Street early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 2 a.m., CHP said a 2006 Lexus RS400 was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the freeway when it collided with a 1999 Toyota Corolla heading north.

Cruz, who was a passenger in the Corolla, and her driver, a 21-year-old Downey man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexus driver, a 32-year-old San Pedro man, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Two occupants in the Lexus, a 32-year-old woman, and a 4-year-old boy, both from San Pedro, suffered moderate injuries.

Shortly after, another Toyota Corolla crashed into the two vehicles but no injuries were reported.

Multiple northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for the investigation.

CHP said alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
