Deborah Abata Killed in Napa County Crash on State Highway 29

Napa County, California – Deborah Abata, 62, of Santa Rosa died following a Napa County crash that also left a 64-year-old Santa Rosa man dead near Calistoga on March 15, according to the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.

At around 10:10 a.m., CHP said a Subaru traveling southbound on State Highway 29 drifted into the northbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Infiniti.

Alvin Ray Minniefield, 64, of Santa Rosa, who was driving the Infiniti, was killed in the accident.

Abata was a passenger in the Infiniti and was hospitalized with major injuries. She succumbed to her injuries on Friday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Subaru, Philip Popick, 30, of Calistoga, sustained major injuries and was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Popick was later arrested at the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

State Highway 29 was closed between Bale Lane to Larkmead Road and motorists were advised to use the Silverado Trail.

The accident is under investigation.

Arin Khodaverdian, CEO and Managing Attorney of Alpine Law Group, urges accidents victims and their families to immediately seek legal assistance. “Those who are affected by tragedy have rights, but they must act quickly in order to preserve those rights. Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
