Marcos Guzman Arrested after Fairfield Crash on Abernathy Road

Fairfield, California – Marcos Manuel Guzman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a woman dead in the 4400 block of Abernathy Road in Fairfield March 13, according to the authorities.

The incident was reported at around 9:45 a.m. March 13, north of Andrews Lane in the Suisun Valley region.

Authorities found Salome Godinez, 60, of Fairfield with major injuries that were likely due to an accident.

Godinez was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

A preliminary investigation showed that Godinez was driving a Honda ATV when the crash happened.

An involved driver fled the scene after the accident.

At around 6:45 p.m. on March 12, authorities located a driver in a vehicle with front-end damage in the area of Abernathy Road and Mankas Corner Road, just north of the scene of the crash.

Authorities identified the driver as Guzman. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license. He was later released from custody.

After conducting further investigations, authorities determined that Guzman’s vehicle had been involved in the accident. Guzman was arrested on Friday in Napa County on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.

The crash remains under investigation.
