Catherine Matthews Killed in Morongo Valley Motorcycle Crash on Twentynine Palms Highway
Morongo Valley, California – Catherine Matthews, 56, was killed in a Morongo Valley motorcycle accident that took place on Twentynine Palms Highway Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Matthews, a Yucca Valley woman, was riding a Harley-Davidson Freewheeler Trike eastbound on the Twentynine Palms Highway at around 8:18 p.m. March 14, when she crashed into the back of a green Mitsubishi Montero just east of Yucca Park Road.
The impact ejected Matthews from her motorcycle. She was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Montero, Galo Zurita, 41, of Yucca Valley, and her passengers, Russell Scaduto, 68, of Morongo Valley and a 5-year-old Yucca Valley girl, were uninjured in the accident.
Denise Gilpin, 63, of Yucca Valley struck the crash debris with her eastbound white Ford 500 but was also not injured.
CHP said DUI is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.
While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
