Tiger Woods Recovering from Multiple Injuries Sustained in Tuesday Morning LA Crash
Los Angeles, California – Tiger Woods sustained serious injuries to his right leg after being involved in a single-car accident Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.
Woods was driving his car on northbound Hawthorne Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes when he was involved in the accident.
According to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy who responded to the scene, Woods was driving a 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV in the two-lane road at a “relatively greater speed than normal” when, for unknown reasons, the SUV crashed into a median, veered off the road, and ended up onto its side on a hillside.
The incident happened at around 7:12 a.m.
A resident near the crash scene called authorities reporting the accident.
The first sheriff’s deputy to respond to the scene found Woods conscious in the driver’s seat with his seatbelt fastened.
The golfing champion, who was the sole occupant of the car, was extricated and transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of severe injuries to his right leg.
As per a local news source, the chief medical staff at the hospital said Woods had shattered the tibia and fibula bones of his lower right leg in multiple locations. Doctors stabilized the injuries with a rod in the tibia. He also suffered injuries to the bones in the foot and ankle, and the doctors had to use screws and pins.
As of Tuesday evening, the golf star was recovering at the hospital.
According to the sheriff’s department, Woods showed no evidence of impairment.
The accident happened when, reportedly, Woods was driving to a television shoot.
