John Spata Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash at Lower Azusa and Peck Roads in El Monte

El Monte, California – A motorcyclist who was killed in an El Monte crash on Saturday night in the area of Lower Azusa and Peck roads, has been identified as John Spata, 56, from Temple City.  

The crash involved a hit-and-run driver.

As per a police report, Spata was riding his bike at the intersection when he was struck by a black 4-door Toyota Tacoma with chrome bumpers.

The Toyota driver allegedly made a left-hand turn directly into Spata’s motorcycle.

The collision was reported at around 7 p.m. on February 20., according to the authorities.

Police said Spata suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Tacoma driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.

Police are searching for the suspect. Anyone with additional information is asked to call El Monte investigators at 626-580-2100.
