Isabella Calhoun Killed in Spring Valley Accident at Jamacha Road and Sweetwater Road

Springs Valley, California – Isabella Calhoun-Chipress, 21, was killed in a Spring Valley crash that was as a result of a police pursuit on Friday night, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

The chase began just after 10 p.m. when authorities spotted a car traveling on Grand Avenue with its lights off.

Authorities confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and tried to pull over the driver, who instead fled the scene.

Shortly after, the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Jamacha Road and Sweetwater Road and collided with two other vehicles.

The 17-year-old suspect reportedly tried to flee on foot but was arrested. He was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges.

A 16-year-old in the suspect’s vehicle was also arrested on gun-related charges.

Chipress, who was the driver of one of the other involved cars, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Two men and a 15-month-old child in the other car were transported to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
