Galt, California – Zakarius Brown, 40, was killed in a suspected DUI accident on Thursday night in Galt, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Just before 10:30 p.m. February 12, CHP said Jonathan Ratta, 28, of Lathrop was driving a white BMW northbound on Highway 99 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck the center divider.

After the crash, the BMW skidded across both northbound lanes and went off the east shoulder of the highway. It went down an embankment and collided with a tree, before overturning.

Brown, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another passenger, a 27-year-old man from Lexington Hills, North Carolina, was transported to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center with minor injuries.

Ratta reportedly tried to flee the scene after the crash but was caught and arrested. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The CHP is investigating the incident.

Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
