Luis Miranda Seriously Injured in Fatal Pomona Accident on San Bernardino (10) Freeway

Pomona, California – Luis Miranda, 20, of South Gate, sustained major injuries in a Pomona hit-and-run collision that left one person dead and two others injured on San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Corona (71) Freeway Sunday morning, according to a CHP report.
A driver in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on the 10 Freeway when they crashed into a 2018 Honda Accord disabled in the No. 4 lane. The crash happened at around 12:16 a.m.
The three occupants of the Honda were outside the vehicle at the time and were struck by the Honda, which was pushed forward by the impact of the collision.
A westbound 2016 Chevrolet Cruze then crashed into the Malibu.
CHP said one occupant of the Honda, identified as a 41-year-old man from South Gate, died at the site of the accident.
Miranda was also an occupant of the Honda. Miranda and the third occupant, Velma Soto, 39, of South Gate, sustained serious injuries and were both transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
The driver of the Cruze, Christaphore Ruffin, 32, of Barstow, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
According to the CHP, the driver of the Malibu fled the scene after the crash, which caused a closure of the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
