Christopher Ruffin Hurt in Fatal Pomona Crash on San Bernardino (10) Freeway

Pomona, California – Christaphore Ruffin, 32, of Barstow was hospitalized after a deadly hit-and-run crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Corona (71) Freeway in Pomona early Sunday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 12:16 a.m., a 2018 Honda Accord was disabled in the No. 4 lane of the westbound 10 Freeway when it was struck from behind by a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.

The impact pushed the Honda into its three occupants, who had stepped out of the vehicle. Shortly after the initial accident, the Chevrolet was struck by a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Ruffin.

Ruffin was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

One occupant of the Honda, a 41-year-old South Gate man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The other occupants of the Honda, Velma Soto, 39, and Luis Miranda, 20, both of South Gate, were both taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

CHP said the driver of the Malibu fled the scene after the crash.

The westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway were closed as investigators worked at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the CHP.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
