Moreno Valley, California – Two people suffered life-threatening injuries following a Moreno Valley two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Day Street on Tuesday night.

Police said a red Nissan driven by a 21-year-old Marco Fonseca from Hemet was traveling southbound at high speed when it collided with a gray BMW.

The Nissan reportedly ran the red light at the intersection and broadsided the BMW.

A passenger in the front seat of the BMW was ejected following the impact of the crash and was severely injured.

The BMW driver sustained critical injuries.

The collision was reported at around 7:01 p.m. on January 19.

Fonseca was arrested for felony driving under the influence charges and subsequently booked into custody at the Robert Presley Detention Center.

The roadway in the area of the crash was closed following the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
