Banning, California – A driver was injured Friday afternoon following a Banning head-on crash on Highway 243 near Interstate 10.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a pickup truck and a car collided head-on for reasons still under investigation.

The collision was reported at around 12:30 p.m. on January 1.

One of the motorists suffered minor injuries and was taken to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning for treatment, according to the CHP.

The accident led to a temporary closure of the highway as the authorities worked to clear the road.

No more details about the crash were provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
