Joan Gately Seriously Hurt in Quincy Traffic Crash on Highway 70

Quincy, California – Joan Gately, 63, sustained major injuries in a traffic crash involving big rigs on Highway 70 in Quincy, according to the CHP.

47-year-old Maria Thunder of Reno was driving a 2019 Kenworth pulling a 2004 box trailer loaded with packages and a 2008 box trailer half loaded with parcels eastbound on Highway 70 at an unsafe speed when she tried to apply her brakes at a curve.

The big rig partially drifted into the westbound side and collided with an oncoming 2018 Rav-4 driven by Gately, a Quincy resident.

The Rav-4 then collided with an eastbound 2001 Peterbilt tractor  pulling two 1990 flatbed trailers hauling lumber.

Gately was extricated from her vehicle and was flown to Enloe Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The accident is under investigation.

Arin Khodaverdian, CEO and Managing Attorney of Alpine Law Group, urges accidents victims and their families to immediately seek legal assistance. “Those who are affected by tragedy have rights, but they must act quickly in order to preserve those rights. Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
