George Ortega Seriously Injured in Deadly South LA Crash at Compton Avenue and East 81st Street

Florence-Firestone, California – George Ortega, 20, of Los Angeles was among three people critically injured in a fatal traffic crash on Wednesday evening in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood near South LA.
According to authorities, the wreck happened at around 6:40 p.m. December 9, at Compton Avenue and East 81st Street.
Ortega was driving a 2014 Nissan traveling northbound on Compton Avenue when he collided head-on with a southbound 2005 Toyota that swerved into its path. The Toyota was being driven by John Cardenas, 23, of Compton.
After the initial impact, the Toyota collided with an oncoming 2015 Nissan, driven by Faustino Acosta, 39, of Los Angeles, and then hit the side of Line 55 Metro bus.
Margarita Reyes, 54, of Los Angeles, who was a passenger in the 2014 Nissan, was killed in the accident.
Acosta, Cardenas, and Ortega were all taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
There were no injuries on the bus.
The wreck is under investigation.
