Francisco Lomeli Killed in Modesto Car Accident at Claribel and Langworth Roads

Modesto, California – Francisco Diaz Lomeli, 20, of Oakdale, has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as the passenger who was killed in a deadly Modesto crash that happened at the intersection of Claribel and Langworth roads late Saturday night.
At around 10:12 p.m. on December 5, CHP said Nicolas Villela IV, 19, of Modesto was driving a 2012 Nissan sedan west on Claribel Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a 2019 Chevrolet sedan traveling north on Langworth Road.
The Chevrolet was being driven by Deborah Mendez, 19, of Riverbank.
Both vehicles also struck a power pole before coming to a stop, CHP said.
Lomeli, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, died in the crash.
Mendez was transported to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries.
Villela was transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of abrasions. He was later arrested and booked into the Public Safety Center on charges of DUI, manslaughter, and battery on an officer. His bail was set at $125,000.
Ivan Villela, 18, of Modesto, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to Kaiser hospital in Modesto with major injuries.
Two other passengers, Chloe Songmouan, 18 of Modesto, and Eleyna Alarcon, 18 of Ceres, were also not wearing seatbelts. Songmouan was taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of lacerations to her head. Alarcon was taken to Kaiser by AMR with minor injuries.
A fourth passenger, Devin Redden, 18, of Modesto, was also taken to Memorial Medical Center with a complaint of pain.
A fifth passenger in the Nissan, an 18-year-old man, was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
