Man Dies in San Diego Head-On Crash on Mission Gorge Road, Friday Evening

San Diego, California – A man was killed in a San Diego head-on crash that occurred on Friday evening along Mission Gorge Road near Mission Trails Regional Park.
According to San Diego police, a 2003 four-door Acure sedan was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided head-on with a 1984 Toyota pickup heading north on Mission Gorge Road.
The crash was reported at around 6 p.m. on December 4., police said.
Following the impact of the collision, both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles for about 30 minutes.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and Heartland Fire & Rescue responded to the crash and successfully freed the victims.
The Acura’s driver, a man in his 50s, was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Toyota driver, a 59-year-old man, was transported by an ambulance to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest with minor to moderate injuries.
Authorities did not release the names of victims.
The collision is under investigation.
