Buakhay Douangaphay Dies in Tehama County Collision on I-5

Tehama County, California – Buakhay Douangaphay, 64, of Weed has been identified as the woman who died in a Tehama County collision on Interstate 5 Tuesday night, according to the authorities.

CHP said Mohammad Khesrawi,52, of Lathrop, was driving a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder northbound on I-5 when he rear-ended a 2009 Subaru Forester driven by Ea Douangaphay, 40, of Weed.

The Subaru lost control and overturned due to the impact of the collision, CHP said.

The incident occurred at around 11:40 p.m. on December 1.

Buakhay, who was a passenger in the Subaru, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ting Leutmixay, 5, of Weed, who was also a passenger in the Subaru, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff.

Khesrawi suffered minor injuries and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Douangaphay suffered minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the collision.
