Children Among 3 Injured in Ukiah Accident on Highway 20

Ukiah, California – A woman and two children were injured in a Ukiah rear-end collision caused by a driver who was eating a hamburger on Monday evening, according to the CHP.

At around 5:55 p.m. October 5, CHP said a 39-year-old Lucerne man was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound on Highway 20 when he failed to notice traffic stopped for an earlier collision near Pomo Way.

The Dodge slammed into the rear of a 2018 Kia Soul driven by a 33-year-old Redwood Valley woman.

The impact pushed the Kia into a Honda Accord in front of it. The Kia then moved into the westbound lane and collided with a Ford Explorer. The Honda collided with another vehicle following the impact with the Kia.

The Redwood Valley woman had a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old in her vehicle at the time of the accident. They all sustained major injuries in the crash.

The woman was transported to Lake County hospital while the 3-year-old was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital. The older child was flown to U.C. Davis.

The driver of the Ford Explorer and a 1-year-old passenger in her vehicle were both transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the collision, CHP said.

 The incident is under investigation.

Arin Khodaverdian, CEO and Managing Attorney of Alpine Law Group, urges accidents victims and their families to immediately seek legal assistance. “Those who are affected by tragedy have rights, but they must act quickly in order to preserve those rights. Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
