Jacob Phillips-Short Killed in Victorville Collision on Palmdale Road and Cobalt Road

Victorville, California – One of the victims of a deadly vehicle collision in Victorville Saturday morning has been identified as Jacob Michael Phillips-Short, 29, of Victorville, according to a local news source.

Deputies said Phillips-Short was driving a 2006 white Hyundai Tiburon north on Cobalt Road when he failed to stop for a red light and collided with a 2001 black Ford Explorer heading west on Palmdale Road.

The crash occurred just before 2:18 a.m. October 3.

A passenger in the Hyundai, Sarah Jane Jarrell-Worden, 23, of Victorville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Phillips-Short had to be extricated from the wreckage by the firefighters. He was then taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the driver of the Ford as Reggie Eugene Sanders, a 58-year-old transient man. He was hospitalized with minor injuries following the accident.

Sanders was expected to face charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Authorities clarified on Tuesday that Sanders was not at fault in the accident and was expected to be released from custody.

No further details were released.

That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
