Woman Killed in Fresno Crash on Highway 41 at Highway 180 Transition

Fresno, California – Catherina Monson, 21, was arrested following a suspected DUI Fresno accident that left her passenger dead on Sunday evening, according to the CHP.

At about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, October 4, Monson was driving a Buick LeSabre northbound on Highway 41 when she missed the transition road to Highway 180 and collided with the center divider. 

The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and it came to a rest in the northbound lane.

A 21-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle died at the scene. Authorities said both occupants did not have their seatbelts on.

Monson was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and later booked into the Fresno County Jail.

The accident is under investigation.
