Christopher Smith Arrested after Hit-and-Run Collision at North Broadway and College Street in Chinatown

Chinatown, California – Christopher David Smith, 34, was arrested on Friday afternoon following a Chinatown pedestrian accident at North Broadway and College Street.
Authorities said Smith struck a 70-year-old woman on September 4 and fled the scene leaving her with severe injuries.
A preliminary investigation showed that Smith was driving a black 2003-2006 Mercedes-Benz C230 on College Street and was making a left turn onto North Broadway when he hit the woman.
Police said the victim was in the crosswalk and had a walk signal when she was struck.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the crash was reported at around 5 p.m. on September 4.
The LAPD said the woman suffered a brain bleeding and broken neck, clavicle, and pelvis, sending her to an intensive care unit.
Smith reportedly pulled over and got out of the car after the crash before he fled the scene without rendering any help.
Authorities said Smith was arrested on Friday 25, at around 2:45 p.m. at his home in the 900 block of Menlo Avenue and one block east of Vermont Avenue in Koreatown.
The name of the patient remains undisclosed.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
