Van Nuys, California – The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has identified Jim De Varennes, 62, of Pacific Palisades as one of two people killed in a Van Nuys plane crash that occurred just west of the Van Nuys Airport Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, the single-engine Navion B plane had just taken off from the airport and was headed to Santa Ynez Airport in Santa Barbara County when it crashed in the 6900 block of North Hayvenhurst Avenue at around 3:04 p.m. September 11.

The plane caught fire after the crash and the two occupants died in the wreck.

Varennes was the pilot. His female passenger has not been identified pending notification of the next of kin.

According to witnesses, the plane made a steep climb, then stopped, after which it nose-dived down into the ground.

Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department rushed to the scene and worked to put out the flames.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.

Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
