Fresno County, California – 16-year-old Stephanie Faz, of Sanger, was pronounced dead on Thursday after being involved in a Fresno Big Rig Crash that happened Wednesday afternoon, August 20.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Stephanie was driving a Chevy SUV eastbound on Highway 180 when she collided head-on with a big rig moving westbound.

Police said the big rig driver was attempting to pass a slow-moving vehicle when they drifted into the opposite lane directly into the SUV path.

The fatal collision happened at about 1:40 p.m., Wednesday, at the intersection of Highway 180 and Chateau Fresno Avenue.

Stephanie suffered critical injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment, where she succumbed to his injuries on September 3.

Joe Faz, 68, Stephanie’s father, was a passenger in the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

The big rig driver cooperated with the authorities.
