Armando Morones Killed in Oakdale Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 108, Erica Linja Arrested

Oakdale, California – Authorities have identified Armando Morones, 25, of Empire, as the passenger who was killed in an Oakdale multi-vehicle collision on Highway 108 Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Erica Linja, of Ceres, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Highway 108 when she crossed the double yellow line while attempting to pass a semi without a trailer.

The Suburban then sideswiped an oncoming Honda Civic causing Linja to lose control of her vehicle and collide head-on with a utility pickup truck before the semi-truck hit the Suburban.

CHP said the accident was reported at around 5:20 a.m. just east of Lancaster Road

Following the impact of the crash, Morones, who was riding in the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Linja suffered severe injuries and was flown to Modesto hospital for treatment. She was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The utility truck driver, a 52-year-old Sonora man working for an Oakdale construction company, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to the hospital by an ambulance.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
