Long Beach, California – A woman who was hospitalized on August 7 following a Long Beach pedestrian crash died a week after the incident. The victim has been identified as Alona Prescott, 22, of Long Beach, according to police.

Prescott was reportedly trying to cross the street outside a crosswalk near the Los Angeles River at around 5:40 a.m. She was hit by a Honda Civic traveling westbound on Anaheim Street.

Prescott was taken to a hospital for treatment of major injuries and succumbed to her injuries on August 14. 

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene after the accident.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the incident.

The detectives closed Anaheim Street at Oregon Avenue as they conducted an investigation.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
