Matilde Saavedra Killed in Bakersfield Collision on Interstate 5

Bakersfield, California –  One of the people killed in a tragic accident on Interstate 5 in South Bakersfield Sunday afternoon has been identified as Matilde Saavedra, 56, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

CHP said three vehicles were involved in the crash, which was reported at around 3 p.m. August 16, on northbound I-5 near State Route 166.

According to the report, the driver of a Ford F-150 truck was traveling southbound on I-5 and when they noticed debris in the fast lane and swerved to avoid it.

This caused the truck to lose control and veered into the northbound lanes, where it collided with a Honda SUV and a semi-truck.

The impact caused the SUV to flip and it went off the right side of the road into an orchard.

Saavedra was among two people inside the Honda who died following the crash. Three other people were injured, one of them severely. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the truck had minor injuries and was also hospitalized.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The CHP is investigating the incident.

Swift action by an intelligent and experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

“Usually, clients hire me immediately after their first consultation because they quickly figure out that I will treat them like family. I lift a weight off their shoulders immediately. That is my job. We simply leave no stone unturned – period. We go after everyone and everything. There is no other way to ensure justice,” Mr. Khodaverdian states.

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
