1 Injured in Scotts Valley Collision on Highway 17

Scotts Valley, California – One person was injured following a Scotts Valley collision that led to the arrest of two people early Friday morning, according to CHP.

The accident was caused by a driver’s illegal U-turn on the highway. It happened at about 5 a.m. on Highway 17.

CHP said Marco Ochoa Gonzalez, 25, was driving a 2014 Infiniti 250 northbound on Highway 17 when he took an illegal U-turn at Vine Hill Road.

The Infiniti was struck on its left side by a southbound 2019 Hyundai Sonata.

Gonzalez and one of his passengers, Albert James Blanco, 38, of San Jose, fled the scene on foot after the crash. They were however caught and arrested shortly after the crash.

Another passenger in the vehicle, a 30-year-old Boulder Creek woman, stayed at the scene and was transported to Dominican Hospital with minor injuries.

The Infiniti involved in the crash had reportedly been stolen in the Scotts Valley area.

According to the report, Ochoa was arrested on suspicion hit-and-run, DUI, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and resisting arrest.

Blanco was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.

The incident is under investigation.

We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
