Ryan Ferrara Killed in San Diego Motorcycle Crash on Piping Rock Lane

San Diego, California – A man who died when a motorcycle collided with a vehicle in the 13000 block of Piping Rock Lane near Lakeside has been identified.

According to the CHP, the victim was Ryan Ferrara, a 39-year-old engineer with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

At around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, Ferrara was a passenger on a 2018 Harley-Davidson traveling westbound on Piping Rock Lane. The motorcycle crashed into a parked vehicle.

Ferrara was rushed to a trauma center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 36-year- old El Cajon resident, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The riders were not wearing their helmets at the time of the accident.

Authorities said alcohol or drugs were suspected to have played a role in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
