Janice Wooten Injured in Napa Collision on Highway 221 and Magnolia Drive
Napa, California – A major three-vehicle collision that happened on Highway 221 and Magnolia Drive in Napa Friday evening left three people hospitalized, the CHP reported.
Janice Lee Wooten, 64, was one of the victims hospitalized following the accident that took place at around 6:10 p.m. July 17.
According to CHP, James Alden Custer, 69, of San Ramon was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle northbound on Highway 221 when he failed to stop for a red light.
As Custer was trying to turn onto Magnolia Drive, he was struck by a 2001 Volkswagen GTI traveling southbound on Highway 221. The GTI was driven by Nelson Guarcas Umul, 19, of Napa.
Custer and his passenger, Wooten, were both ejected from the motorcycle following the crash.
The impact of the crash pushed the GTI into the path of a 2017 Ford Explorer traveling on Highway 221 southbound, leading to another collision.
The driver of the Ford was identified as Victor Garcia Gomez, 58, of Vallejo.
Custer, Gomez, and Wooten were all taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. Custer had a broken left arm and lacerations to his face. Wooten sustained a broken left foot and said that she had pain in her ribs. Gomez had a fractured right wrist.
Umul was treated for lacerations to his neck and face at the scene.
The CHP is investigating the incident.

We have numerous other 6-figure settlements within 30 days. While these results are atypical and do not predict future outcomes, justice in these cases helped bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the families.”
