Marie Villasenor Seriously Injured in Glenn County Crash on Interstate 5

Glenn County, California – Marie Villasenor was hospitalized with major injuries following a deadly accident that occurred Saturday morning on Interstate 5, south of the County Road 60 overcrossing in Glenn County.

An 11-year-old boy was killed in the crash, which involved a tractor-trailer and an SUV. The boy has since been identified as Mark Neives-Pina, 11, of San Jose.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after midnight, when a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling northbound on Interstate 5 lost control and overturned.

The big rig came to a rest blocking both northbound lanes of the interstate.

A Tacoma traveling behind the big rig then crashed into it.

Neives-Pina was a passenger in the SUV and was killed in the accident.

Marie Villasenor, 46, of San Jose, who was also a passenger in the car, was flown to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.

The operator of the car was identified as Jose Neives, 48, of San Jose. He was treated for moderate injuries at Enloe Medical Center. He was also arrested for DUI.

The driver of the big rig, identified as Brian Lam, 58, of Auburn, Washington, was taken to Glenn Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the incident.

Wrongful death and personal injury attorney Arin Khodaverdian, President and Managing Partner of Alpine Law Group, urges accidents victims and their families to immediately seek legal assistance. “Those who are affected by tragedy have rights, but they must act quickly in order to preserve those rights to the full extent of the law. Often, swift action by an experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. While this result is atypical and does not predict future outcomes, justice in this case help bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the family.”
