Bernardo Barragan Killed in Santa Rosa Car Crash at Lazzini Avenue and Stony Point Road
Santa Rosa, California – A fatal collision was reported early Sunday morning in the area of Santa Rosa that left two men dead and three others seriously injured.
Bernardo Barragan, 45, of Pittsburg was one of the victims killed in the crash that happened at about 12:15 a.m. at the Lazzini Avenue and Stony Point Road intersection.
According to Santa Rosa police, a BMW and a Cadillac CTS were involved in the accident.
The BMW was traveling northbound on Stony Point Road at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the Cadillac at the intersection.
Officers said it wasn’t immediately clear whether the Cadillac was turning left onto southbound Stony Point road or was traveling straight across the intersection. It was also unknown which vehicle ran the red light at the intersection.
The driver of the Cadillac was identified as Salvador Aguilera, 40, of Santa Rosa. He and his passenger, Bernardo Barragan, were both killed in the crash.
Three people in the BMW, two males and one female, were severely injured. The three victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. They were hospitalized in stable condition.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.
Stony Point Road was shut down between Gardner Avenue and Campbell Drive for several hours as authorities examined the scene.
