Sacramento, California – A vehicle struck a pedestrian near Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Sacramento’s Fruitridge neighborhood early Monday morning.

Authorities said the pedestrian died following the accident, which occurred just after 5 a.m. 

It’s unclear what the pedestrian was doing when they were hit.

The victim who died and the driver of the involved vehicle were not identified.

The crash caused the intersection to be blocked for nearly one hour as investigators examined the scene.

Police are conducting an investigation into the accident.
